For J2sKelvin will be outside ODAC store by 7.10am tomorrow to collect payment for ODAC funds. For more info refer to previous post below. You are requested to cooperate because $257 is a huge sum that we owe to our quarter master. It is not very fair to have Kelvin chase 34 other people for money and do the accounts, while others are preparing for MYE.So J2 ODACians I seek your understanding.

To all J2 ODACians:
Upon feedback, I was requested to provide an answer as to why all J2 ODACians are required to pay for the lost of dynamic rope.
Before I provided my explanation. I wish to reinstate the fact that decision to collect money was passed off by me independently.
I bring forth my point of contention that the lost of dynamic rope was neither intentional nor due to the negligence of anyone involved in the cleaning. The lost here refers to theft of odac property by a third party.
Here's a recount of the event. The date is 9th of March 2008( a sunday ).
The cleaning of equipments began only in the afternoon at around 11am all the way to 4.30pm nearing the evening.
All the ropes were hung up at around 1pm on the wheelchair ramp behind ODAC store. It only started to rain heavily at around 2pm. The circumstances such that during that time, the ropes are still wet due to the humid weather. We had a 64m static rope hung out, 2 dynamic rope, one 55m and one 57min respectively, and a few other short hemp ropes on the wheelchair ramp.
All the ropes were washed using detergent and there were still traces of mud on both the static and dynamic rope.
The arrival of rain made us conclude that we are not able to keep the ropes on that day for it is unwise to store wet ropes that still have traces of mud and detergent on them in the ODAC store. Moreover, ODAC store, based on its size has limited space to hang
all the ropes. We also have to take into the consideration the drying of the lifevest (used in the river crossing activity) (places have already been taken up for the drying of the life vest). In addition, drying of equipments near the bikes in our store will definitely result in objections for they will subject the bicycles to rusting or having mud on the bicycles. Not to forget about bringing in detergent from the ropes into our ODAC store.
Therefore, it is reasonable to leave the ropes to dry outside and to be kept the next day. We left the school compound at around 4pm.
The rope was only found missing the next day in the morning.
Thus it is only justifiable to have the whole J2 batch pay for the dynamic rope as the lost of rope cannot be accountable for by anyone or due to anyone's negligence. It is a theft of
our property by a third party since
we own the equipment
we must replace it.
Unless a safer and wiser alternative in keeping the ropes can be provided by any ODACian in the keeping of the dynamic rope together with other ropes under the circumstance stated above, I would withdraw my decision.
As for the payment for the hemp rope. The reason is simple, it was facing wear and tear and we happen to damage the rope in the process of using it. Thus, payment has to be made by all J2s.
J1s were not involved because during that period they have yet to confirm their status in ODAC. Thus we cannot involve them.
If you have any form of rebuttals please post it on the tagbox with ur name. Not nick.
Thank you.
-Daniel.

Night Cycling 2008
Well, the event is over.. Overall I think its quite a success despite some breakdowns here and there. I guess, besides the bikes everything was fine. Perhaps the participants cycled REAL SLOW, hence we were unable to stop over at Joo Chiat for supper. Judging from the fact that the time lag between the 1st & last group is 1hour++, although it is SUPPOSED to be only 30mins or even less.
All I have to say is, JOB WELL DONE to all group ICs, I think the participants enjoyed the event & find it a new, memorable & enjoyable experince..
Thank You to our teacher in-charge, Mrs Rosaline Tan for helping with our proposal, publicizing the event and giving valuable insights. As well as the other teacher who sacrificed their weekend to help out, Mr Neo, Ms Tang & Mr Wong. And of course all those who has helped out in one way or another.
Lastly, need to give special thanks to Shaun for all the hardwork over the repairing of bikes last night, really appreciate it, thanks!

History
NY ODAC was established in 1978 and was formerly known as OAC. The motto of OAC was
"The experience is YOURS".
During that time, OAC focused more on discipline and was more regimental as compared to the current ODAC. Mrs Koh was the teacher-in-charge then.
Furthermore, 4 marine groups, namely Blue Whale, Dolphin, Marlin and Stingray were initiated in the early years of OAC.
In 2003, Mr Thaddeus Lawrence took over the 1st ODAC. The 1st ODAC is also known as the 25th OAC and has a strength of about 20.
Mr Lawrence took part in the Sahara Desert Run in July 2009.
The motto of ODAC is
"Challenge your limits". As an odacian,we strive to explore and push our limits, be it physically or mentally, especially when participating in outdoors activities.
In addition, all odacians adhere to the following 8 qualities:
Commitment
Determination
Discpline
Integrity
Responsibility
Nature Appreciation
To have Adventurous Spirit
To be a good team player
In 2004, Mr Ong Jiun Hoe and Ms Yap Chiew Ring joined ODAC. ODAC engages in both land and water activities.
In 2005, Ms Lynette Poh joined the ODAC family, leaving in 2006.
In 2006, Ms Seah joined us and assisted Mr Ong in running the club, both stepping down in 2007.
In 2010, Mr Ong came back and together with the newly joined teachers, Mr Loy Suan Hui and Ms Chim Yi Hui, they run the club together.
In 2011, Ms Tan Shuyun, Ms Tan Yi Zhen Sherilyn and Mr Gurmit took over Odac.
NY ODAC has participated in various competitions which include the Adventure Race Singapore, Adventure Trail Challenge
and annual Vertical Marathon. Moreover, ODAC also participate in other activities such as the Outdoor Training Camps, Night Cycling and De Urbanised Traverse.
In 2012, Ms Tan Shuyun left the odac family, and Mr Gilbert Tay joined in.
In 2014, Mr Gilbert Tay left the odac family, and Mr Terence Lin joined in. Together with Mr Gurmit and Ms Tan Yi Zhen, they run the club.
