Attention all NYODACians. I have recieved an update from Mr Ong regarding our new teacher-in-charge for ODAC. She is Mdm Rosaline Chang. A teacher from the Mathematics department. She is someone who has the experienced of leading the last 2-3 batches of NYOAC. Working with her will be Mrs Koh and Mr Joel Loo from the PE department.Currently, Mrs Chang is hoping to meet all of us. However, due to some clashes with J1 orientation. I am attempting to contact her to have a change of day for the meeting. However, because lessons are starting immediately when school reopens, expect the meeting time to be near evening time, so I seek your understanding.I believe the meeting would focus on the future programmes for ODAC.Perhaps some of you would have gotten the news that there will be no 6th ODAC. This news is indeed very disappointing. I believe we would be able to listen to Mrs Chang's explanation on the day of the meeting.ODACians, I am not very sure if any of you view ODAC in the way that I view it but I dare say that ODAC is not just any other CCA. ODAC is not about fun and games. Instead, ODAC changes our way of thinking and make us realise what we are more than capable of . This is what we call "Challenge Your Limits". Ask yourself, how many of you believe that you can climb a 40 storey building 5 times? How many of you believed you can do pull ups by the end of this year? How many of you believe that you can run 10km, 22.125km or even 42.195km? How many of you would realise that you can actually complete a Junior trithalon event? How many of you believe that you can climb up Mount Belumut? These are little achievements that I see people shrinking away initially but smiling away when you completed it. A person grows and realise what he is capable of once he progresses above his limits. You yourself have seen how many people change from the start of the year until now. We are creating miracles by changing people's life and their character for the better. ODAC has changed our seniors, us and many other people who have joined us before.ODACians no matter what, we should believe that there ODAC must go on. Ask yourself, how have you changed over the years? What is it that you want to past down to your juniors when they come? Why did you sacrifice your time for ODAC rather than studying or doing what you like.I have the answers for these questions, do you? Although the news about ODAC not having a 6th ODAC is official, I still believe that the meeting will be our one and only chance if you want ODAC to go on. I believe there is still hope. Do you? I rather give it a one last shot to get ODAC going. No matter what happens, ODACians, lets welcome all the teachers to our big ODAC family. Although, we cannot have Universal Acceptance or Love on how people view ODAC, we must firmly believe that ODAC is not just any CCA. It is not a matter of chance but choice. Not something to be waited for but to be achieved, and you and I know, we have made the right choice. Whatever comes our way, whatever battle that we have raging inside us we always have a choice. Always choose to be the best of yourself. It is the choices that make us who we are and we can always choose to do what is right.
-Daniel Khoo
President of the 5th ODAC.

Due to the chemistry remedial for most of us tomorrow. Training will change to cycling practice sessions. This does not involve not cyclist.Starting time is 1pm.(Expected) End time is 3pm.There is no fixed attire. Please borrow a bicycle from anyone who has parked their bicycles in the store before coming if you are not cycling.Attendance is not compulsory. However, I would strongly encourage weak cyclist to turn up.Currently, attendance for such practice sessions are rather low, only a few enthusiastic people are willing to turn up and they have made tremendous progress in their standard of cycling.According to records, there are only 10 people who made the mark. I do not wish to publicise the names of the weak cyclist who have not be turning up for cycling practice sessions. When the need arise, due to safety reasons, I may have to pull out weak cyclist from the team. I am sorry for having to be so direct but safety when planning activities is our number 1 concern. I require you all to take initiative.Next, please keep your friday morning free from 8.30 to 11.30 . It is a water PT. Kindly study your notes on Cycling. Cycling Test will be on Friday, it is not an easy test. People who fail will not be able to do cycling PT instantly. The test will also involve non-cyclist so study for the test as well. One last thing, those turning up please give me a call.-Daniel

History
NY ODAC was established in 1978 and was formerly known as OAC. The motto of OAC was
"The experience is YOURS".
During that time, OAC focused more on discipline and was more regimental as compared to the current ODAC. Mrs Koh was the teacher-in-charge then.
Furthermore, 4 marine groups, namely Blue Whale, Dolphin, Marlin and Stingray were initiated in the early years of OAC.
In 2003, Mr Thaddeus Lawrence took over the 1st ODAC. The 1st ODAC is also known as the 25th OAC and has a strength of about 20.
Mr Lawrence took part in the Sahara Desert Run in July 2009.
The motto of ODAC is
"Challenge your limits". As an odacian,we strive to explore and push our limits, be it physically or mentally, especially when participating in outdoors activities.
In addition, all odacians adhere to the following 8 qualities:
Commitment
Determination
Discpline
Integrity
Responsibility
Nature Appreciation
To have Adventurous Spirit
To be a good team player
In 2004, Mr Ong Jiun Hoe and Ms Yap Chiew Ring joined ODAC. ODAC engages in both land and water activities.
In 2005, Ms Lynette Poh joined the ODAC family, leaving in 2006.
In 2006, Ms Seah joined us and assisted Mr Ong in running the club, both stepping down in 2007.
In 2010, Mr Ong came back and together with the newly joined teachers, Mr Loy Suan Hui and Ms Chim Yi Hui, they run the club together.
In 2011, Ms Tan Shuyun, Ms Tan Yi Zhen Sherilyn and Mr Gurmit took over Odac.
NY ODAC has participated in various competitions which include the Adventure Race Singapore, Adventure Trail Challenge
and annual Vertical Marathon. Moreover, ODAC also participate in other activities such as the Outdoor Training Camps, Night Cycling and De Urbanised Traverse.
In 2012, Ms Tan Shuyun left the odac family, and Mr Gilbert Tay joined in.
In 2014, Mr Gilbert Tay left the odac family, and Mr Terence Lin joined in. Together with Mr Gurmit and Ms Tan Yi Zhen, they run the club.
