Thou shalt own ATC this Sunday.
-;
Its me again. ATC again.
Ok I hope you guys have been training hard. Probably its time to rest. Wednesday/Thursday should be your last training (that is IF you have been training). By Friday, stop all trainings
completely. Just stay at home, shake legs, study for mid years, don't do any sort of training. You should rest for about 2-3 days before ATC. For those who can recover fast, have some light trainings on Friday. I don't know whats your definition of light. Ask adam or roy for the NY ODAC standard. lol. By Sunday, you should be fully ready for the race. Here's some tips for you guys to practice on the few days you are resting before ATC. (not by order of importance or priority).
1)
Hydrate yourself. Drink LOTS of water. Lots of it. For those who had diarrheoa recently, drink even more. Diarrheoa results in servere dehydration.
2)
Increase your salt intake. Meaning drink more H2O. No 100plus please, its carbonated and it kills stamina. Fruits like bananas have high salt content also. Consume more of such drinks and food. By inceasing your salf intake, it reduces the chances of having cramps along the way.
3)
Eat more fruits. Esp bananas and apples. But no durian please, it dehydrates your body.
4)
No carbonated or gas-y drinks like coke, pepsi. In fact, you should not have taken these in the first place as it kills u fitness, esp stamina. By drinking these, ur efforts in trainings go down the drain. I hope my Marlins have been obedient here. =)
5)
No junk food, fast food, deep fried food. They kill ur fitness as well. Examples of junk food are potato chips, twisties.
6)
Carbo load. Ok this is important. Carbo load means eat MORE food that has lots and lots of carbohydrate. Example, rice, pasta, potatos noodles. If you are consuming one bowl of rice for dinner, eat 2 and a 1/2 bowls from now till ATC. If possible, 3. Serious. Pasta and potato is highly recommended. These carbohydrates will be your energy source on ATC. Don't worry about getting fat. You won't cause you will be burning them off in ATC.
7)
Get Energy Gel Packs. They are additional energy for you during ATC. Recommended at least 3-5 packs. But they are expensive, #3.50 per packet. So its up to you to how many to buy. For those who went for VM you may not feel the effect of Gel packs cuz VM is only a 10min race. ATC is at least 6hours. So Gel packs are more applicable here. The Gel packs take effect after 15min and will last for 45 min.
8)
REST. get enough sleep on sat night.9) Plant the seed of winning firmly into your mind.We have strong competitors. Their trainings are real real real tough. What some of their J1s can do, even me myself may not be able to do.
ok i tink thats all. If I think of more i will post again. Questions can ask me or other J2s.
Have fun in ATC. And give your best shot.

Mr Lawrence took part in the Sahara Desert Run in July 2009.
The motto of ODAC is
