CCA Bazaar

Hi guys, this will be the schedule for tmr:

Pls gather at the odac store at 2.30pm in the white odac tee(otherwise, the black one)

We will first set up the booth which will be at the same spot as open house.

This will take approximately 30mins, after which CCA bazaar will commence at 3pm

During the bazaar, which lasts about 2hrs,

Stingray will be stationed at the booth. Members of stingray will need to pass on the relevant information that the JC1s want to know. Also, you might wanna publicize ODAC as a CCA which engages in a wide range of physical activities, such as swimming, long distance trekking and rock climbing. The highlight for our CCA would be that ODACians will ba ble to plan for their year end trip, be it overseas or not. A form will be placed at the table to note down the names and contact details of the JC1s who are interested to join ODAC.

Marlin, dolphin and blue whale will be moving around the college to publicize ODAC.

Marlin will be stationed at the seashell wall area, dolphin at the atrium and blue whale at the bookshop area.

Members of these groups will need to hold on to paper strips, which you will staple onto the JC1s wrists (like paper bangles) as a form of publicity.

So pls take note that each group needs to have at least 2 staples, marine group leaders pls take note of that.

Lastly, once these groups are done with the stapling stuff, pls continue walking around and approaching the JC1s. otherwise, direct them to the odac booth. Everyone, try your best to make this bazaar a success! THANKYOU!

Really sorry we couldn't conduct our water training session this week due to thunderstorms and lightning risk alert. However, there will still be 2 remaining water pt sessions next Wednesday and Friday.

As tomorrow we have to vacate the school by 1.30pm and J2 lessons end at 1.30pm, I cannot brief you guys tomorrow, so, Jie Kang and Zhi Hong, I will pass you some documents tomorrow at 1.30pm outside the ODAC store so you can brief the rest regarding investiture.

To end off, big congratulations to those who made it, and for those of you who did not, don't be disheartened! Continue to strive and give your best in everything you do. I assure you, in your term in ODAC, there will definitely be ample opportunities for you to showcase your leadership potential. The last thing we want is for you to feel short-changed because you did not manage to secure a position. Hi guys, NJC ODAC has invited us to join them for their Night Hike event. Here are the details:

This year’s inter-school challenge is accompanied by an extraordinary theme: [A taste of the unknown: excite your senses.] The enthralling games will decide on the food given, where varying performances will give groups the option of eating tasty or nasty food.

Night Hike 2011 is a race not to be missed by fun-loving outdoor goers as it tests your endurance, speed and wits. It has incorporated the long-awaited surprise-factor and mystery element to test your courage, eye for details and fortitude for puzzle solving! It will also satisfy those stomachs with love for food!

This inter-school challenge will definitely set a good note for many new ODAC members of the J1 batch! This is would be a worthwhile experience for them to step out of their comfort zone and experience the outdoors. Groups can look forward to winning attractive prizes and vouchers from sponsors such as Udders,Frolick, 77^th Street, Mr Bean and many more!

Competition Details:

Registration is to be done via email. It is compulsory for all teams

to inform their respective ODAC Teachers-in-charge.

Contact details of teachers-in-charge are to be included in registration form.

Registration closes on 8^th April 2011. Teams are to register in

teams of 8. Registration is deemed complete upon the

payment of $15 per person.

Hello all ODACians! (: This is an update of the camp, please take note of the following details, brief camp program, packing list, marine groupings, flag & identity.

IMPORTANT!
- Please bring a proper camping bag to camp as you will be carrying it for the trek. The camping bag should be able to withstand to a load up to 10kg.
- J1s: Please gather at 1pm on this Friday outside ODAC store to pass Jacqueline the $30 for the 2 T-shirts.
- J2s: Please gather at 8.30am on this Friday outside ODAC store to pass Jacqueline the $14 for the new T-shirt.

1. Brief outline for camp program

- The trek will be in the West area and will end at Bukit Gombak MRT station at approximately 1830 (630PM).
- All valuables will be collected at the start of the camp and only returned at the end of it.
- Please kindly keep your parents informed and updated about the camp.
- If you’ve any issues/queries, please feel free to contact your group IC .

2. Packing list

- This packing list includes the attire that you are wearing when you report for the camp.

- This packing list indicates the bare minimum items one is required to bring for the camp. It is solely up to the individual needs if one wants to bring excess items. (Do take note that you will be trekking with your bag.)

- Label your name on all your belongings.

- All items are to be packed into a camping bag which ought to be able to fit items up to a 10kg load.

3. Marine Groupings

- The group ICs (highlighted in yellow) and assistant ICs (highlighted in blue) will take charge of their respective marine groups.
- Those highlighted in green are those who are not attending the camp.
- Even for those who are not going for the camp, you will still have to contribute to the group flag and identity.

4. Identity

- Identity will have to be worn by all group members at all times
- Names can also be written on the identity
- Each group will have a group colour that will be the main colour for the identity for easy identification
- Blue whale: Blue
- Dolphin: Green
- Marlin: Red
- Stingray: Yellow

- Eg. Wristband, sash, etc

5. Flag

- Ensure that group name is on it
- Flag dimensions: 0.8 m by 0.6m

Ice Breakers

For Icebreakers, we will play "Give me tempo, ready go" and 7-Up.

For the first game, it requires us to know everyone's name so we would be able to familiarize with each other.

The second game is an "energizer", a game to get us all high.

Core Training and Horse Stance

The usual thing ODAC usually does for PT. This is to let them have a feel of our usual training.

8 rounds around the track

We will not be seeing so much on their physical level because we are not sure if they would want to join us so we decided to do something less demanding, 2 more rounds than their usual 2.4. We hope to let the J1s feel our ODACian persevering and motivating spirit by pushing them to run more than their usual 2.4.

Tribal War

Gist of activity

ODACians will be divided into two groups. In each group, there will be three different roles to be played, namely Warrior, Mage and Tribe Chief. The objective of the whole game is to get the opponent group’s flag from their base, having both their own flag and their opponents’ by the end of a time limit of 50mins. In the process of getting the opponent group’s flag, groups can choose to secure checkpoints for upgrade. This upgrade allows the group to be stronger than the other, hence allowing easier access to the opponent group’s flag.

Game Description

Objective:

To have both flags at the end of the 50mins

Dividing into tribes:

1. Members will be divided into 2 groups (‘tribes’) of equal strength.

2. Members to be told that there are 2 bases (one for each tribe) and 3 checkpoints located around NYJC (Specifically along the road beside CCA and science block)

Choosing unit ratios within tribes; tying of harnesses

1. Each group can decide the number of Warriors and Mages they want to have. However, there has to be at least 8 Mage and 8 Warrior present.

2. Each group has to select a Tribe Chief.

3. Warriors, Mages and Tribe Chief can be differentiated by the tag their wearing.

4. The number of different types of unit tags will be given accordingly, as well as 1 Tribe Chief tag.

5. Harness is to be tied around the waist with masking tape.

6. The harness represents the ‘life’ of the member.

7. Once the harness around him/her is broken, he/she is considered ‘dead’ and can only be revive by Mages at their respective base. Only Mages and Tribe Chief are allowed revive themselves.

Description of Units

Ø Warriors

- Able to ‘kill’ opponent tribe members by breaking the harness around them (made from masking tape) with bare hands.

- Once the harness around the warrior is broken, he/she is considered ‘dead’ and can only be revive by Mages at their respective base.

Ø Mages

- Able to revive themselves, Warriors and Tribe Chief by tying harness around their waist at respective bases.

- Able to convert checkpoint into their own tribe’s (For further explanation please see below)

- Once the harness around the Mages is broken, he/she is considered ‘dead’ and can be revive at their respective base.

Ø Tribe Chief

- Leader of tribe

- Able to do what both Warriors and Mages can do.

- Midas’ touch upgrade available (For further explanation please see below)

- Once the harness around the Tribe Chief is broken, he/she is considered ‘dead’ and can be revive at their respective base. ALSO, all checkpoints that currently belong to the tribe are converted back to neutral upon tribe chief’s ‘death’.

Bases

1. Each base is a square marked out by 4 colored cones.

2. Each tribe will start out from their respective bases when the game commences.

3. It is the only place where tribe members can be revived by either Mages or Tribe Chief

4. At the start of the game, each base has 15 coloured cones. These are for the Mages to secure checkpoints.

5. A flag that represents their tribe will also be in the base at the start of the game.

Checkpoints

1. A checkpoint is a square marked out by 4 coloured cones

2. There are a total of 3 checkpoints located around NYJC

3. Mages can secure the checkpoints by rearranging their respective coloured cones in a V formation in the marked square. (Please refer to appendix)

4. However, 1 Mage can only carry 1 cone at any one time.

5. If a checkpoint happens to be already secured by another tribe, then a group of Mages will have to remove the opponent tribe’s cone one by one. Only then can their own tribe’s cones be arranged.

6. Removed cones must be placed right outside the checkpoint. Mages are not allowed to sabotage another tribe by deliberately moving the other tribe’s cone to another part of the college.

Upgrade (Midas’ Touch)

1. When all 3 checkpoints are secured by a tribe, a wristband (made from masking tape) will be given to their respective Tribe Chief.

2. This wristband represents the power of Midas’ Touch.

3. It means that the Tribe Chief will have the ability to ‘kill’ any opponent tribe members just by touching the opponent tribe members’ harnesses with the hand having the wristband. E.g when the Tribe Chief has the wristband on his left wrist, only his left wrist will have the power of Midas.

4. Upon touch, the opponent tribe members will be ‘killed’ and have to return to their base to be revived again by Mages.

5. However, when the Tribe Chief dies or when that tribe have less than 3 secured checkpoints, the wristband will no longer be in possession by the Tribe Chief and be returned to Melvin, Su Fern, or Veronica.

Battlefield

1. The playing area only includes the road besides CCA and science block, starting from container classrooms to security guard.

Game Preparation:

1. Before the game commence, 10min will be given to each tribe for tying of harness and to strategise.

2. In the mean time, tribe are to send 1 member to scout the land for the checkpoints.

Game starts:

1. Games only commences when the IC gives the signal.

2. Tribes will start out from their respective bases.

Game ends/Area cleaning:

1. Game will end 50min later

2. After that, members are to help clean the area used.

Rules & regulations

1. Members are to abide by the saying, “safety first”. If any member were injured and be deem unfit, he/she will be out of the game.

2. For environment purposes, once ‘dead’, members are to carry their broken harness back to respective bases to be thrown away when game ends.

3. To ensure fairness, any member who often do not abide to the game description will be penalise will a 15min cooldown period. He/she will not be able to participate during the cooldown period.

Odacians!

This coming Tuesday will be our preparation day for the CCA Bazaar. It will be from 1.30p.m. to 6p.m. However, I believe that with our high efficiency and productivity, we are able to get all the things done before 6p.m. As such, everyone can get home early for the preparation of the Chinese New Year!!
Following are some of the thing that each marine group have to take note of on 2nd Feb :

Marlin: Please bring along a pair of scissors or penknife
Stingray: Please bring blue tack if you have
Blue Whale: Please prepare a nicely decorated A4 paper for the JC1 students to write down their contact details when they visit out booth. Do up at least 1.
Dolphin: Please bring some coloured pens or colour makers

Edison & Jacqueline: Kindly bring all your marathon finisher medals for displaying at the booth

Last but not least, please drink more honey water these few days and rest well.

International Friendship Camp

1. Report by 7.30am - Meet at Harbourfront at 7am for those who planned to meet together.

IMPORTANT! - At all times there must be someone at the booth.

What you need to know:

Before you begin your duties: Report to the ODAC store at 9.45am to place your belongings. Bring along your handphones because you may require them to contact your next shift members. If there is a change in time, we will send out an sms to inform all of you.

People in red: You are the “Last man” for each shift. This means that you will be the last one to leave the booth. You will only leave your booth for the next shift when people from the next shift come over. For example, from 10am -12pm, Jacqueline, Feng Zhu and Benjamin will be doing duty Outside LT 4. At 12pm, Jacqueline and Benjamin will leave for their respective duties while Feng Zhu remains behind. Feng Zhu will then wait for the next shift’s Christabelle and Jonathan to arrive before she can leave. Therefore, please make sure you know who is supposed to come over to take over you.

Attire for tomorrow: Wear school pants or skirt with ODAC shirt, bring either track pants, longer shorts or P.E pants to change into once your shift starts. Those who want to abseil, i.e. girls please ensure you have track pants/ longer shorts.

Regarding lunch: We will all be entitled to the free buffet lunch at 12.15pm in the hall. However, at all times, there has to be someone at your respective booths. As such, you will have to take turns to have lunch. This arrangement will be left up to you. If there are 4 in your group, you can choose to have lunch in groups of two. Once one group comes back, the other group can go.

Those who need to leave early/leave for a while/ have other CCA booths to tend to: Please call either Melvin or me to inform us so we can either go down and replace you or send someone to take over. It would be best if you could inform me beforehand as to the time that you will need to leave, and what time you will be back.

Secondly, the One-Minute Challenge. People doing duty outside LT 4, do pay closer attention to this portion.

A floor plan will be given to each participant.
Participants will be given 10seconds to look through floor plan and clarify any doubts of names of items.
The participant will then have to pick out the necessary items from the bunch of items on the floor, and rearrange the necessary items in the tent , as shown in the floor plan.

*The Floor Plans have 2 difficulties. Start by giving the easier one first. If too many people are finishing the task easily, replace the floor plan with the more difficult one. Floor plans will be at the booth tomorrow.

Judging Criteria

As long as all items are placed at the correct position, sticker may be awarded to participant. Judging of shape of rope or visibility of the word “ODAC” can be fexible.

We will not be in charge of prizes. For those who pass the judging criteria, you will award them one sticker. For those who do not, Melvin has bought some sweets which we can give out as a consolation prize.

14-15th Jan 2011 (Friday & Saturday)

It is race for JC's Odacians. Activities involve: rafting, dragonboat, biking, abseiling, outdoor skills and much more. In short its a race filled with all sorts of activities which you might want to try out.

Each JC can send in as many participants as they like. For this race, each team would be about 7-10 people and all be mixed. Meaning a team will have people from all different JCs. There would be ample opportunity to mix and mingle with other JC's Odacians.

It would be a race where you get to meet people as well as try out activities that you might never get to try out.

Registration fee: A very reasonable SG$ 20!
Prizes: cash + gifts.
Goodie bag: gifts, event tees and meals will be provided over the 2 days of race.

Registration and payment will be on the 16th/30th December at Orchard Central's Coffeebean. A booth will be set up there to collect all the documents and cash.

Below are the two choices we picked. Now we need to choose one. Choice number 1 is more of an adventure trip (hiking, biking, etc.) while Choice 2 is mainly hiking and water rafting on the last day.

Choice 1: 5 Day Adventure Package - 5 days, 5 nights

This 5 day adventure package highlights the best hot spots for adventure sports in Southern Vietnam. This trip is truly for the sports enthusiast looking to get into the Vietnam everyone else sees through a tour bus window. Possible activities include trekking, bird watching, mountain biking, rock climbing, canyoning, kayaking, and great sightseeing !!

Day 1 (Cat Tien National Park) (L, D)

Pick up in Saigon and head north by vehicle to Cat Tien National Park. About 150 kilometers or a 3.5 hour drive
Check into the park and have lunch at Cat Tien National Park Restaurant

Choice 2: (attached are excerpts of people who went there)

Gunung Batu Putih, Perak

Gunung Batu Putih is the 8th highest peak in Peninsula Malaysia (West Malaysia) standing at 6,993 ft (2,131 m) above sea level.

-Engage a orang asli porter (RM300 for 3 days).

-Provided a 55+10L backpack and put our food ration and cooking utensils weighing a total of 15 kg. The porters clothing would be around 4-5 kg.

-Not necessary to carry tents as they could sleep under the big boulder with overhanging canopy and enough space for 22 people

Gunung Liang Timur, Perak

Gunung Liang Timur (1933m) that will take 2 days/1 night where the meeting point is in Tanjung Malim and the entry point Kampung Dara (Sg. Dara).

Sungai Dara route is a much shorter route to Gunung Liang Timur and usually can be completed in 2 days although some prefer 3 days.

We started trekking at about 10.15 am from a starting height of about 500ft above sea level and a slow gradual trek passing through Behrang Permanent Forest Reserve. Cross over 4 to 5 streams, in the month of November and with the wet season, definitely leeches were giving us a 'high 5' to latch onto our shoes as we pass by. Well this time we were prepare with some other counter measures. We used Camphor Soap Pagoda Brand and the active ingredient eucalyptus oil that repel leeches. Do not pull leeches off as this can tear the skin and cause infection, its better to use salt or fire to make them drop off. On our way we didnt have any problems with them but after getting wet from crossing the river eventually one or two will have their feast. As Wong discover a leech bite at the neck area. As we past the last waterfall crossing which is crystal clear. The height here is around 1800 ft and there and a good place to camp and swim near the waterfall. Average time taken is around 1.5 to 2 hrs. From here onwards the trek is up up and up until about 4500ft where our campsite is. It takes about 3 to 4 hrs to reach the campsite with drinking water source down a 70 degree slope which takes about 3 mins. With 15 kg on my back and with the many steep slops, big fallen tree crossing and many thorns to content with I reach the campsite at around 3.15 pm. We were over confident, its raining and cold and both my calf felt sore, and the campsite floor was literally cover with tree roots which makes sleeping over it challenging. Wong and KC arrive around 4 pm thanks to Chong who help to carry KC's backpack up. As I tried to set up camp alone in the rain proves difficult. After setting up camp and cooking area, KC settle down to prepare a hot tea drink before dinner to warm up our bodies. Its raining at 4500 ft and to take a bath is brrrrr..... cold. Our menu for tonight is Salted Chicken bought from My Lim Salted Chicken (Semenyih) and vegetables. Our dinner was rudely interrupted by pesky sand flies which inflicted painful bites (itchy) on the exposed skin especially on our face, hands and feet. We forgot to bring our mozzy guard and after our meals we rested in our tents. My face was flushing hot and full of sand flies bites, sore calf and tired legs. Slept early at around 7.30 pm and it started raining and since our campsites is situated on a ridge and exposed on both sides it gets windy and very cold in the night.

The next morning the group departed towards the peak which is a 2000 ft steep climb and takes about 1 to 1.5 hours to reach. KC and myself decided not to proceed due to body aches and pains. They left around 8.30am and reach Gunung Liang Barat (West) and Gunung Liang Timur (East) and descend an hour later and came down around 12 pm. We approach our guide and request to carry my backpack down for a fee. I realize that I would have a painful problem descending to our car park, a very wise move.

Choice 1: Gunung Tahan (2187m)
Itinerary 1 by Pacwest:

The highest mountain in Peninsular Malaysia. It is located inside Taman Negara on the Pahang-Kelantan border. The trail to the summit would require you to trek through lowland primary jungle and make several river crossings before arriving at the mountain plateau. Much folklore surrounds this mountain, its name literally means "forbidden mountain". As legend has it, the summit of Gunung Tahan is guarded by a giant monkey, who sits there watching over two pots of magic stones: "ibu emas" & "ibu perak". These stones have the magical ability to change anything that comes into contact with them, into gold & silver respectively.

Tahan is a tough climb, camping in tents all the way and being subject to the humid conditions and erratic weather changes of Malaysia's rainforests. But it is a great challenge to all! Our packages come either self-supported or on a full board basis, make an appointment with us to find out more you can set out to conquer the highest point in Peninsular Malaysia.

Itinerary 2: 7-Days Malaysia Gunung Tahan

Gunung Tahan, 2187 metres (7174 ft), is the highest mountain in Peninsular Malaysia. The mountain is situated inside Taman Negara, on the Pahang-Kelantan border.The Merapoh return trail requires about 70 km trek, passing through low altitude primary jungle, across rivers, up to a cool mountain plateau. Gunung Tahan is at the top end of the plateau. The return trek takes 3-4 days. The trek starts at Sungai Relau, a 13-km drive from the jungle headquarters of Taman Negara at Kuala Juram. The Park can be reached by van from the station at Merapoh or Gua Musang. Coping with the trek depends on your fitness – both physical and mental, the choice of suitable equipment and the load you carry on your back. The weight you can carry depends on your age, fitness and body weight. A maximum of one-quarter of body weight is a good guide in humid, hot conditions as in Gunung Tahan. However, packs must be kept as light as possible: 15-20 kg is what to expect for this trek up Gunung Tahan.

D2: SENARU (610m) – MONTONG SATAS (1500m) – MONDOKON LOLAK – PLAWANGAN 1 SENARU CRATER RIM (2641m)

Wake up early for the 5-mins transfer to the RINJANI TREK CENTRE (RTC). This is where you meet your guide and do some registration. The RTC staff explains the route details, local cultural traditions, what you might see, rubbish management and safety procedures. The first part of the 6-hr trek climb steeply through thick tropical forests with a variety of birdlife and butterflies. You might see orchids and, if lucky, the rare black ebony leaf monkey, known locally as Lutung. Rest stops are taken along the way, at Pos 2 Montong Satas shelter (1,500m). Depending on your itinerary, the night’s camp is made either in the forest at pos 3 Mondokon Lolak (2,000m) after about five hours climb, or continue the ascent for another couple of hours through grassy meadows to Plawangan 1 Senaru Crater Rim (2,641m) At the crater rim, you see sweeping views across the lake Segara Anak (2,000m) and the summit of Mt. Rinjani. Within the crater Mt. Baru(2,351m) is an active volcano, its last eruption being in 1994. On a clear evening, towards the West, the Gili isles, Bali and Mt. Agung can be seen. O/N in Tents.

D3: PLAWANGAN 1 SENARU CRATER RIM (2641m) – SEGARA ANAK (2000m) – PELAWANGAN 2 SEMBALUN (2639m)

After breakfast, you descend to the Lake Segara Anak (2,000m) within the Rinjani Crater. You hike through the ridge, passing numerous Edelweiss plants at Bunga Abadi. This descend takes 2-3 hours down the steep trail to the lake campsite where you will stop for lunch. If time permits, you drop by the hot springs for a wash up. You continue the ascend to Pelawangan 2 Sembalun Crater Rim – your campsite for the night. Camp and rest… prepare for the following day’s challenge! O/N in Tents.

D4: PLAWANGAN 2 SEMBALUN (2639m) – SUMMIT (3726m) – SEMBALUN LAWANG - SENGGIGI

You begin your summit climb at 0300hrs. It will be a hard 3-hour trek to the summit rim of MT RINJANI (3,726m). You will be walking on volcanic scree slopes. But once you arrive at the summit, you know it was a well worth 3 hour exertion! The rewards of an awesome sunrise awaits you there. After spending some time at the summit, you return to Plawangan Sembalun (2hrs) Pack-up and continue the final descend via a different route to Sembalun Lawang (5hrs) Your transport awaits at the road head, to fetch you to Senggigi. O/N in Hotel.

D5: SENGGIGI – SINGAPORE

Today is a free until your airport transfer. Fly LOMBOK - SINGAPORE. HOME

Gunung Batu Putih is the 8th highest peak in Peninsula Malaysia (West Malaysia) standing at 6,993 ft (2,131 m) above sea level.
-Engage a orang asli porter (RM300 for 3 days).
-Provided a 55+10L backpack and put our food ration and cooking utensils weighing a total of 15 kg. The porters clothing would be around 4-5 kg.
-Not necessary to carry tents as they could sleep under the big boulder with overhanging canopy and enough space for 22 people

Gunung Liang Timur, Perak
Gunung Liang Timur (1933m) that will take 2 days/1 night where the meeting point is in Tanjung Malim and the entry point Kampung Dara (Sg. Dara).

SUGGESTED TRIP:

2-way travel Out and Return to School (min size of 30)-type will depend on confirmed group size - either SVIP or 40-seater bus.
Fully guided trekking arrangement (less meals on trek)
Full day Rafting with Lunch
1night Stay in Ipoh Hotel (end of expedition and rafting) - R&R

For the upcoming, stress-relief Abandoned Railway Hike, there are certain details and items-to-bring that we'd like everyone to take note of.

Date: 18th June, Friday

Reporting Time: 8:30 AM

Reporting Venue: Marymount MRT Station

EXPECTED ending time of hike: 5:30 PM

To bring list

-1.5 litre water bottle

-Slippers (for changing out of your muddy shoes/sandals)

-15 bucks (lunch, dinner and dessert)

-Plastic bag (to store muddy/dirty belongings)

-Poncho

Optional

-Face towel

-Snacks/Energy food (Note: don't eat in the presence of monkeys!)

-Insect repellant

-Extra shirt

Attire:

Footwear: Unwanted/dark-coloured shoes or sandals. Shoes offer better shielding against sharp grass or annoying ants, but sandals are easier to wash and an option if all your shoes are precious. Unwanted/dark-coloured socks if you choose to wear shoes.

Shirt: Long-sleeve/short-sleeve ODAC Tee. Long-sleeve may be uncomfortable under the hot weather, but it helps protect your arms at the later part of the hike against sharp grass.

Pants: Trackpants/PE shorts. Trackpants offer better shielding, but is stuffier AND may require more washing, as we will be stepping into MUD, ankle-deep at least.

And that should be it. Our warning to you is (as you probably realise by now): beware of MUD! *evil smirk*

Whitewater rafting (WET ACTIVITY)

After Activity

Change back to 1st Long Pants, 1st Long sleeve shirt, Trekking shoes, 1st socks, 1st underwear

Day 3 (Sunday)

Summit of Guneng Brinchang (sleeping)

Change to Knee Length Shorts, HseTee for j2s (HseTeefor j1s) + Sweater/Army jacket, 2nd Underwear, 2nd socks (all dry)

After sleeping (begin trek up guneng irau) (WET ACTIVITY)

Change dry clothes to wet clothes (Assuming rain during the night hike). Long pants, Long sleeve shirt, Trekking Shoes, 2nd socks, 2nd underwear

End of trek (before boarding minivan to tanah rata) + Sleeping attire in tanah rate apartment

Hi People!

There will be a briefing for parents of those going to the trip on this friday, 5th of march, at 6.30pm. Please ask your parents if they want to go. Thanks!

For those who didn't make it for today's water test, don't feel discouraged..we will have water sessions specially for you all on wed after the 10k run while there's another test for those who didnt come today. Don't fret, just practice more we will see how it comes along =D

For those who did not turn up for saturday's hike test, we will have a make up session for around the 10 of you all. It will be most likely after sports carnival. Please prepare a big hiking bag and the other items of the packlist.

FOR EVERYBODY..please rem to bring your 4 water bottles on wed, and also your big hiking bag as we will be climbing stairs with that bag (not the green one).

I know everybody will be busy..esp the J2s, so just hang on for a little while more! It will be all worth the effort =D

P.S can those who want to go for the 20th march night cycling event sms Kerk? Confirm among your friends who will be going and get back to me, remember 3$ is damn damn cheap HIGHLY RECOMMEND to go but for J2s only those who are confident for lecture tests next week are recommended to go =P

Hey people,

All of you did a very great job for yesterday's hike =D

I want to thank the j1s for being attentive learners and understanding why we have to be strict and fierce with you all at times, although i would like to see more improvement in terms punctuality and informing us earlier if you cannot come.

As for the j2s, its good that i don't have to worry about you all and thanks for helping out in assisting in the tent pitching and keeping spirits high with your crapping during the hike =D

Most importantly, i want to thank the ICs for yesterday's hike..sorry elisa for bogging down so much of your time on communicating with all of us, i know how irritating it is to cater to everybody's whims and desire. And to jianyuan and elisa, a very very fantastic job for the tent lesson,i believe everybody will know how to pitch a tent by now..

And to darren, ker sim, kulesha and ken, the commitment you have put into planning the hike is very encouraging and the route is very well planned with lots of minor details taken care of, good job!

To qihao and elisa, i think the biggest responsibility lies with you all in making sure nothing gets lost, so i want you two to know that you have been doing a very good job. Please clean up the store later though i just dumped everything inside =P

I know these few weeks have been very draining on you, but i just want to tell all of you that we are nearing our goal and all the hard work that we have put in will be rewarded soon =D

Its just a few more trainings and tests, so push on both physically and academically!

For all of you who have female relatives, aunts, sisters, mothers who are above 21 years, could you please please ask them if they are willing to accompany us for this trip? Tell them that there will be minimal climbing required.
